How pump.fun streams work
pump.fun is a Solana launchpad where anyone can create a memecoin in a few clicks. Creators can also go live on their coin's page, streaming video to the people watching that coin. The stream sits next to the chart and the chat, so viewers can watch, talk and trade in one place.
Why creators stream
A new coin has no history and no reason for anyone to care. A live stream gives it a face and a running show. Creators use it to answer questions, run giveaways, react to price moves, or just keep people watching. Attention is what moves a memecoin, and a stream is an attention machine.
What you're looking at
A typical stream page shows:
- The video. Whatever the creator is broadcasting: a webcam, a game, a screen share.
- The chart. The coin's price, usually moving fast in the early hours.
- The bonding curve progress. New pump.fun coins trade on a bonding curve first, where the price rises as people buy. Once enough is bought, the coin "graduates" to a normal DEX pool.
- Chat and trades. A live feed of messages and buys and sells.
Many streamers add an overlay on top of their video: alerts when someone buys, a leaderboard of top holders, a big number for the market cap. That's what BotMe Live does, as a free browser source you can add in OBS.
How streams move prices
When a stream is busy, buying often happens in bursts: a shout-out, a giveaway, a big buy alert. Those bursts can push the price up quickly, and they can reverse just as quickly when attention moves on. Remember that the person streaming often holds a lot of the coin, so their incentive is to keep you excited.
Watching without getting swept along
- Check the coin first. Paste the address into Coin Check before the stream gets to you.
- Decide your limit before you buy, not during a hype moment.
- Treat giveaways and "buy now" calls as marketing, because they are.
- Be wary of anyone in chat asking you to DM them or connect your wallet somewhere.
If you're the streamer
Be honest about what you hold and never promise returns. If you add an overlay, make it show real data and keep it readable on a phone. The OBS overlay guide walks through the setup.
Not financial advice. This guide is general education. Crypto assets are high risk and largely unregulated in the UK; you could lose everything you put in.
